Building Laurel & Rue

The brief: a wedding/event planner with portfolio gallery, package pricing and a vendor showcase — a site that doubles as proof of the planner's own event work. The idea: planners sell competence, and nothing proves competence like a run sheet.

The signature — a real day, stitched by scroll

The centrepiece is one actual wedding day, 07:00 to 23:40, laid on an alternating timeline whose champagne thread fills with your scroll (Motion's scroll() against the timeline element). The copy is the sell: the spare dahlias at 22:00, the confetti line moved indoors 65 minutes before the rain. Every margin note demonstrates the service better than an adjective could.

Colour & type

ecru ink champagne sage

Cormorant Garamond — light roman with a liquid italic — set huge against Mulish. The timeline hours are italic Cormorant at display size, because on a wedding day the clock is the antagonist. Photography (Unsplash, free license) is graded toward candle and ecru; the hero card floats on the image like an invitation on a table.

Packages & vendors

Three honest tiers — month-of, full planning, elopement — with copy that owns its niche ("we cry easily"). The vendor bench avoids fake logos entirely: monogram calling cards with one-line reputations, which is how planners actually talk about vendors. Card and pricing-tier anatomy referenced from 21st.dev patterns, rebuilt in this identity.
